Our R&D team dedicated to offshore wind
Our Institute brings together 25% of France’s workforce dedicated to R&D and innovation in offshore wind. Its strengths include an effective cutting-edge approach, a detailed understanding of regional specificities and a network of international experts.
A multidisciplinary R&D team for offshore wind
Our team of 90 employees brings together key skills in several complementary disciplines. This enables us to support the sector on a range of issues that are interdependent when dealing with specific cases. This clearly illustrates the value of a cutting-edge approach, whether for R&D projects or services.
The scientists in our team are divided into four departments according to their profiles. These departments cover a wide range of disciplines, from physical oceanography to biology, hydrodynamics and electrical engineering. In addition, our team has strong expertise in numerical modelling, artificial intelligence and sea trials. Several support functions reinforce this team, which is 100% dedicated to R&D for offshore wind sector.
Close ties with local offshore wind energy stakeholders
Since our creation, we have been committed to consider the specific characteristics of coasts and the needs of local communities. To this end, we have established a local presence. In addition to our headquarters in Brittany, we have Atlantic, Channel and Mediterranean offices. Our proximity to pilot and commercial wind farms is a real asset in developing synergies with industry of the sector.
We also have academic partnerships that enable our team to strengthen the excellence of our offshore wind R&D. Our regional roots allow us to consistently align our activities with the expectations of the blue economy and to set up regional projects.
A strong connection with a network of key experts
While our team has developed cutting-edge expertise in offshore wind R&D, our scientists also know how to surround themselves with talent. France Energies Marines brings together a national network of experts recognised by their peers. These scientists are part of research teams attached to universities, engineering schools, public institutions and SMEs.
We also cultivate fruitful collaborations with several key R&D players worldwide. This is particularly the case for DTU, FLOWRA, Fraunhofer IWES, IFP Energies Nouvelles, NLR, PNNL, SINTEF, Supergen ORE, and Tecnalia.

Emma ARAIGNOUS

Emma ARAIGNOUS
Emma has a double degree in mathematics and computer science of life and in ecosciences and microbiology from the Université de Lyon, as well as a master’s degree in marine sciences from the Université de Bordeaux. Her final year work focused on the modelling of planktonic food webs and their typology. Since 2017, her work has focused on the development of the ecosystem approach applied to offshore renewables energies within different organizations.
At France Energies Marines since 2018, her main mission is to develop trophic tools and models and to study the health status of ecosystems as well as the cumulative impacts of different human activities and climate change. Her involvement also includes the development of tools and indicators for environmental impact assessment within European projects. She is also technical sales engineer for Ecosystems & Society topics.

Yoann BAULAZ
Yoann applies ecosystem services, life‑cycle assessment, and social‑ecological systems frameworks to evaluate how marine renewable energy transforms coastal landscapes. Drawing on human geography and ecology, he produces decision‑ready tools and facilitates inclusive engagement with local communities.

Pierre BOURDAUD
Pierre studied environmental biology at the Nantes, La Rochelle and Rennes universities, completing a master’s degree in ecosystem approaches to fisheries at the Institut Agro in Rennes. His master’s internships focused on evaluating the quality of trophic models and developing and calculating indicators based on them. He then completed a thesis on the coupling of fleet dynamics and trophic network models in the Eastern English Channel. Since 2018, he has carried out several postdoctoral contracts on the modelling of trophic networks and fisheries, studying the effects of various pressures. At France Energies Marines since 2024, his main mission is to develop trophic tools and models and to study the health of ecosystems and the cumulative impacts of human activities and climate change, with a focus on the Eastern Channel coast.

Lise DULIEU
Lise graduated from Ecole centrale Méditerranée, where she completed a generalist degree programme with specialisations in solid and fluid mechanics and environmental management. Between 2023 and 2025, she completed this course with a double degree in ocean engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), focusing on physical and biogeochemical oceanography, as well as marine population dynamics. Lise began her research career in her second year of engineering school, through an internship focusing on the impact of anthropogenic noise pollution on fish and invertebrates, a topic for which she developed a particular interest and which she is now helping to reintegrate into France Energies Marines’ ecological models.
Her end-of-studies internship at the Institute focused on developing an individual-centred model of fleet dynamics in the Mediterranean, using socio-economic data to better understand and represent fishing behaviour. At the end of this internship, she continued as an R&D engineer in food web modelling and data analysis. Since then, she has been working on ecosystem modelling, assessing the impact of offshore wind turbines and studying the food web functioning of marine ecosystems

Vincent FAURE

Vincent FAURE
With over 15 years of experience, Vincent holds a degree in engineering from ENSTA, complemented by a PhD in marine environmental science obtained from Université d’Aix-Marseille in 2006. He began his career at Institut de Recherche pour le Développement as a postdoctoral researcher in ocean modelling. Then he joined ACTIMAR as a research engineer and project manager where he contributed to projects such as studies of hydrodynamics, sediment dynamics, waves, and water quality.
From 2016 to 2020, Vincent served as scientific development officer at GIPREB joint association which is working on the rehabilitation of the Berre Lagoon. His missions included scientific coordination, and scientific development activities related to data management, modelling, and new data acquisition methodologies.
Since 2023, Vincent has been working at France Energies Marines and currently holds the position of ecosystem approaches applied to offshore wind researcher. He has deepened his knowledge of trophic modelling and the assessment of the environmental impacts of offshore wind, through involvement in several projects such as NESTORE, ECOCAP, and FLOATFARM.

Rhoda FOFACK-GARCIA
With over seven years of experience, Rhoda holds a degree in environmental public policy from Sciences Po, supplemented by a PhD in environmental sociology from Université Paris Nanterre in 2018. She began her career as a carbon footprint consultant and then as a researcher in public policy, identifying levers and supporting adaptive and integrated water resource governance at different territorial levels. It was at the CNRS that she joined the ANR Groundwater ARENA project, where she honed her skills in mapping stakeholder networks and analyzing local collective action processes in the implementation of public environmental and energy policies.
Rhoda has been at France Energies Marines since 2018 and currently holds the position of researcher in sociology applied to offshore wind. In this context, she has deepened her knowledge of marine and coastal socio-ecosystems, their trajectories of transformation and resilience in the context of offshore wind project planning and implementation. She has developed expertise in social life cycle analysis. She has participated in various French and European R&D projects such as: APPEAL, DTOCEANPLUS, LIF-OWI, NESTORE, EOLENMER, FLOATFARM, FISHOREMAN, ORESA and COMPASS.

Manon JOGUET
Manon holds a master’s degree in marine and coastal sciences from Université de Bretagne Occidentale. Following a posting aboard a tuna seiner in the Indian Ocean as a fisheries observer, she joined FROM Nord as a Project Manager in 2015. This professional experience allowed her to coordinate between fishermen and maritime activities, as well as to develop and coordinate collaborative research projects. In 2020, she joined the international NGO MSC, a sustainable fishing certification program, and worked in collaboration with the industry in the Mediterranean. She joined France Energies Marines in 2021 as a project management officer to implement best practices and consolidate the standardization of the project management process within the Institute. In 2025, she joined the Ecosystems and Society department as European Project Manager. In particular, she is responsible for coordinating the European COMPASS project, which brings together 14 partners from 8 countries.

Marie LE MARCHAND
With over eight years of experience, Marie Le Marchand holds degrees in Organismal Biology from the University of Rennes and Earth and Universe Sciences from the University of Western Brittany, complemented by a Master’s degree in Coastal Ecology from the University of La Rochelle and a PhD in Marine Ecology from the Doctoral School of Marine and Coastal Sciences, which she obtained in 2020. She began her career at France Energies Marines during her doctoral studies, before continuing with a postdoctoral fellowship. At France Energies Marines since 2017, Marie currently holds the position of Ecosystem Approach Researcher, specializing in the North Atlantic – Western Channel and South Atlantic coasts. In this role, she has deepened her knowledge of ecosystem modeling, the specific characteristics and challenges of Brittany, and climate change, through her participation in various projects such as APPEAL, WINDSERV, and NESTORE.
