Implemented since 2018

In 2018, when France Energies Marines moved from calls for projects to the so-called annual R&D consolidation, we had to find an alternative to the review of our projects by experts from the National Research Agency. An international Scientific & Technological Committee (STC) was then set up.

Internationally renowned experts

Our STC comprises eight independent international experts. It provides advice on our Institute’s scientific and technological agenda and its translation into R&D projects. It also makes forward-looking recommendations on desired developments.

Our STC experts are chosen for their experience in the industrial field and/or in applied R&D projects. They are references in their field of competence who work in prestigious foreign institutes. They thus have a good idea of the impact of our work on the expectations of those involved in the marine renewable energy sector. The members of the Committee have just been renewed because their investment in supporting the Institute is strong and we must not always mobilise the same people.

Composition of the new STC

  • Wind & Ocean Dynamics
    • Jakob MANN, Professor in Meteorology and Remote Sensing (DTU, Denmark)
    • Ryota WADA, Professor in Ocean Industrial Science and Technology (University of Tokyo, Japan)
  • Systems & Performance
  • Wildlife & Interactions
    • David LUSSEAU, Professor in Marine Sustainability (DTU, Denmark)
    • Bob RUMES, Researcher in Aquatic Ecology (RBINS, Belgium)
  • Ecosystem & Society
    • John ASTON, Expert in Acceptability and IEA Wind Task 62 Lead (Astoneco, Ireland)
    • Kris A. LEWIS, Assistant Professor in Biological Oceanography (University of Rhode Island, USA)
