The institute for energy transition dedicated to offshore renewable energies

Sorbonne Université joins France Energies Marines

The Institute for Energy Transition France Energies Marines and Sorbonne University have signed a research and development partnership agreement. The academic institution thus becomes the 28th member of the Institute. This new partnership strengthens the Institute’s mutualised research capacity, particularly in relation to the environmental challenges posed by the development of offshore wind power, while enabling Sorbonne Université to become more closely involved in the offshore renewable energy sector.

By joining France Energies Marines as a member, Sorbonne Université is lending its support to the mutualised research carried out by the Institute, which now has ten French academic institutions among its 28 members from the public and private sectors. A leading international university, Sorbonne Université is particularly prominent in the field of ocean sciences, with 1,500 teacher-researchers, engineers and technicians. France Energies Marines will be able to draw on this expertise to continue its R&D efforts aimed at improving the assessment of the effects of offshore wind farms on marine ecosystems.
