The institute for energy transition dedicated to offshore renewable energies

Iberdrola France, new member of the Institute

Iberdrola France and the Institute for Energy Transition (ITE) France Energies Marines signed a research and development agreement last March, making Iberdrola France a member of the Institute. The new membership of this major international energy company will enable France Energies Marines to strengthen its capacity to overcome the obstacles to the development of offshore wind and ocean energy through collaborative R&D projects, thanks to additional funding and the expertise of Iberdrola’s teams.

Already involved in several of the Institute’s collaborative projects via its French branch Ailes Marines, Iberdrola is currently contributing to the SEMAFOR, FISHINTEL and FISHOWF projects. The latter in particular aims to assess the effect of offshore wind farms and their connection on fish and crustacean populations. In collaboration with Ailes Marines, the Institute’s teams have deployed an acoustic telemetry network in the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm to study the movements of several important marine species.

Driven by the Institute’s shared R&D capacity, new projects will soon strengthen this partnership in connection with the development of offshore wind farms on the French coast.
