A CFI dealing with dynAmic cable monitoring
At the end of last year, France Energies Marines and Eolink, in partnership with the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique, launched a Call for Expressions of Interest for the monitoring of dynamic subsea cables.
This activity was carried out as part of the wider HT-20MW project, supported by ADEME and led by Eolink, which aims to design, test and certify a high-voltage rotating mechanical and electrical connection for a 20 MW floating wind turbine. France Energies Marines is responsible for the work on the monitoring solutions applicable to dynamic cables. Sea trials are scheduled in July 2024, with the aim of testing devices for continuously recording the deformed shape of the dynamic cable in time and space.
The 4 winners will take part in the sea trials
Four candidates have won this call for expressions of interest:
- CADDEN (Nantes, France) associated with Sonardyne (Yateley, United-Kingdom)
- FEBUS Optics (Pau, France)
- NKT (Lyckeby, Sweden)
- Viper Innovations (Bristol, United-Kingdom)

For these companies, this is a great opportunity for gaining a better understanding and maturity of the in-service monitoring solutions they are proposing. The results of these trials will enable France Energies Marines and Eolink to gain a better understanding of the technologies available on the market for the instrumentation of future dynamic cables.
More in a few weeks!
