Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing the Institute’s skills and setting up R&D projects on the innovative theme of characterising ORE sites using satellite remote sensing. In close collaboration with the meteorological and numerical modelling experts of the Site Characterisation programme, he/she will contribute to the development of new tools and to the exploitation of wind-wave-current observations from sensors on board satellites and from terrestrial sensors.

Missions

  • Development of research activities related to remote sensing applied to offshore wind energy
  • Definition and coordination of the setting up of research projects and contribute to the scientific tasks of France Energies Marines’ projects
  • Develop collaborations with European and international research institutes in the field of ORE
  • Strengthen the Institute’s links with industrial players in the field
  • Supervising PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows
  • Presentation of the results of collaborative research projects in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences
  • Contribution to the services offered by France Energies Marines for the benefit of the ORE sector

Required Skills

Initial training
PhD in the field of remote sensing applied to metocean parameters or in a related field, or an engineer with recognized experience in R&D

Specific knowledge
Required:
• Use of observations from remote sensing systems (satellite sensors, lidars, etc.)
Desirable:
• Physics of air-sea interactions and influence on the atmospheric boundary layer
• R&D related to offshore wind energy
• Artificial intelligence

Work experience
R&D experience in the field of remote sensing, especially for satellite observations, confirmed by the publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in the analysis of lidar measurements would be a plus

Professional qualities
• Good writing and communication skills in French and English
• Appetence for applied and collaborative research
